The New Road and Street Works Act (NRSWA) requires the undertakers to have qualified personnel in place who execute any type of works within the public highway on behalf of a utility company or their associates.
They must provide at least one operative who is to remain on site at all times until the works are completed. They must also have an appointed supervisor, who is able to monitor the works and liaise with the local Highway Authorities. Any one person cannot cover both roles at the same time.
HSG 47 Service Avoidance (CAT & Genny) is a half day awareness course is to remind employees on how to use their equipment safely and ensure they understand and can read drawings and are using every available tool at their disposal.
It is aimed primarily at clients, designers, planning supervisors, contractors, employers, owners and operators of underground services, who otherwise would not use the locating equipment on a regular basis.
The Utility Safety Health and Environment Awareness (SHEA) portfolio of schemes has been developed in conjunction with industry to provide a uniform approach to health, safety and environmental awareness training across the utility sector, in line with Health and Safety Executive guidelines.
We offer SHEA courses in Telecom, Gas, Power and Water.
